6 - Care and feeding your guitar..

Change your strings often. Your guitar will sound alive and loud, it will also keep in tune better. When changing the gauge of your strings you should get a set up done. If you travel with your guitar alot, get a good hardshell (plywood) case. Gig bags are great if your just going across town to a friends house to jam. But if your a working musician, a.) you are loading equipment, b.) playing 3 sets of music c.) breaking down and re-loading equipment into your van at 3:00AM. Hey, people get tired and careless after a very busy evening.

In the wintertime, always use a humidfier for you acoustic guitar and acoustic bass. The furnace in your house will dry out the air and it will effect the wood. Remember guitars are just delicately cut and assembled pieces of wood. VERY THIN WOOD. Solid body electrics are not so cridical .

Most guitar care is just common sense. Don't leave your guitar in the car  when it's 100 degrees outside. Take it inside the store with you.

Don't pile your Marshall stack or your Fender twin on top of it. Don't leave it on the floor at your frathouse or if you ave roomates, I've seen too many alcohol related crushings of many guitars.

Guitars especially acoustic guitars a very fragile, take care of it. Remember... a guitar in two pieces is very hard to play.
